IFS officer Parveen Kaswan beautifully commemorated the legacy of Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian-origin woman astronaut on the occasion of her birth anniversary.

IFS officer Parveen Kaswan honored the life and achievements of Kalpana Chawla with a tribute that included a colour sketch and a heartfelt touching note.

At a young age Kalpana Chawla broke barriers by becoming the first Indian woman to enroll in the aeronautical engineering course at Punjab.

Kalpana Chawla was born on March 17, 1963, in the city of Karnal in Haryana, she graduated in aeronautical engineering from Punjab Engineering College in 1978.

kalpana chawla continued her studies at the University of Texas, setting the stage for her ultimate achievement of becoming an astronaut at NASA.

Kalpana Chawla's space journey began with her first mission aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia in 1997. 

During this mission kalpana chawla served as a primary robotic arm operator and mission specialist.

Unfortunately, Kalpana Chawla's life and career were cut short when in 2003 when she and her six other crew members perished in the disaster of Space Shuttle Columbia .
